East Coast Ensemble
East Coast Ensemble is a series of monoprints developed during a 1-month residency at the St Michales print studio in St Johns, Newfoundland.
In this series, I continue my research of printmaking experimentation and specially the idea of "collaborating" with the press and the studio in general, as if they were live elements. I am interested in considering the particularities of the press the blankets and even the inks of the studio where I am working.
I believe that the presses and the tools, have different behaviours that are the consequence of wearing out, in my opinion this process creates a kind of memory that can be imprinted in the work. In some regard, I like to believe that I am improvising with materials, as if we were jamming in the studio.
The East Coast Series and the residency were possible thanks to the support of the Canada Council for the Arts.
