Biography


Guillermo Trejo is a Mexican-Canadian artist based in Ottawa, Canada, and Morelia, Mexico. After completing his BFA at the National School of Painting, Sculpture, and Etching (La Esmeralda) in Mexico City with a specialization in printmaking, he relocated to Canada in 2007. The experience of immigration profoundly reshaped his practice. Since moving to Ottawa, Trejo has earned an MFA from the University of Ottawa and has become an essential figure in the local arts community. He has taught at the Ottawa School of Art, the University of Ottawa, and ENES Morelia (UNAM). Beyond his studio practice, he has served on the Board of Directors for the Ottawa Art Gallery and continues to volunteer with various non-profit organizations. His work has been exhibited extensively across Canada.
